Day one of Summer Fest was a funny one. I guess no one was really ready for the sun and amount of heat (100+) that comes with it. By 2:00 pm the trees were more popular than the bands. I saw a lot of fashionista's rocking leather boots, heels, wedges, and boys in beanies! Come on Houston, you can do better than that. Where's the practicality in those clothing choices? I was definitely ready with my SPF, hat, light and breezy clothing, tiny purse, comfortable shoes, and a light beer in hand.

I caught some of the Those Darlins set on my way to see Finnegan

Some of the Finnegan fan crew: Josephine, Tank, Brandi, Nathan and me (behind the camera)
Andi was seducing me with that lemonade...

Even though this little lady is giving me a stone cold stank eye, she was the cutest #1 fan throughout the whole set. Dancing and singing along to every song. I'm sure she thought I was making fun of her, but I thought she was awesome in her own little Finnegan world. There needs to be more people like her in crowds.

Finnegan (and Brandi's head) at 3 pm on the Warehouse Live Stage day one of Summer Fest 2011.
It didnt take long before we were soaking wet.

The Lee brothers, Darin and Taylor

The ladies, Ginny, Sara and Val. Ginny's really gettin' after that flute!

Val and Sara

Oh gosh, if you go to a Finnegan show and see Taylor step back and Sara take off her hat, brace yourself. You are about to hear one of the most heartbreaking songs that will bring a lump to throat or if you are tender as Brandi, a tears streaming down your face. You won't find this song on their album, What Happened To Jacqueline?, but I'm hoping that they record it on the next album. I think it is easily mine and Brandi's favorite song. I'm not even sure it's named yet... Sometime it's referred to as 'The Girl's Song' (I believe the ladies wrote this one about a common experience) and sometimes it's 'Maybe Somehow'

I spy 2 bueno bueno key necklaces:) and a jules chain

And if you were wondering about the crowd and how the set was, they sold out of CDs between the last song and load out. There are not enough good things to say about this band.
We have A LOT more photos coming your way (sets + festival style) within the next couple of days. It's been a crazy busy week! Summer is here and it's so difficult making enough time for fun with out getting buried in work.

What were those guys thinking wearing leather and beanies? lol. when its hot you have to be in the bare minimum clothing! I love the sun though.
Agh. So jealous. I wish they would come towards ID!! You two have got me hooked on them and I'm DYING to see them live.
Wow! That looks amazing and so much fun! What a funny picture, too-- small crowd in front of the actual band, but large portions of people under the trees. What a fun-looking festival!
I love Finnegan!! Great pics ladies- wish I had been there. XO
gosh i wish i could have been there. we went down to galveston instead because SF tickets cost so much.....only to find out, while driving, that our friends had a pair of free ones for us...damn. but there will be plenty more shows!
How awesome! I think I may need to invest in their album.
Great pics Brandi!! My snobby eyes couldn't find you. ;)
I've never heard of them before. I'm totally checking them out now, a flute and a cello? Awesome! Oh man, that looks so hot! We have only hit 85 here as our high, 100+ is brutal.
