Last July, I posted about a big project that I would be diving into this year and left you hanging with "I promise to share" and trust me, I've been wanting to so badly. I'm getting closer to launching the project and I couldn't be more stoked! I was going to wait to post about it until my official launch date (ahem, February 1, 2012), but someone left a comment a few weeks back asking about my progress, so anonymous commenter, this sneak peak is for you.

The name of my project is The Pinpoint Method and it involves, design, travel, interviews, a great crew and a crazy amount of fun. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped and encouraged me along the way. I look forward to all the adventures to come!

ADVENTURES WITH THE BEAR: Too Tired For A Haircut

Ryder came in today so not ready for a haircut. Sometimes he comes in all excited about a cut, but this was not one of those times. He was so sleepy. Even though he didn't want a cut he was so well behaved. He didn't whine, he didn't cry, he didn't fuss.....he just sat there (looking adorable) blowing the hair off as soon as it landed on his skin. Only once did he say "DeeDee your taking too long." Ha Ha!

What I have learned when cutting kids hair

The cape scares them because their little hands are restricted/ hidden, if you explain to them what the cape is for, it helps. "Honey the cape is on so that the hair doesn't itch your skin." They will soon find out what you are talking about if they don't want it on.
Let them hold something (a neon comb, the blowdryer, spray bottle) this makes them feel like they are a part of the process and that they are helping you.
Keep them updated ("almost done, cutting the back now, you are doing so good.")
Show them the scissors and the clippers. I had Ryder hold and feel the vibrations of the clippers so it didn't scare him. I also showed him by cutting my own hair that it doesn't hurt to get haircuts.
Talk to them about something they are interested in (Thomas The Train)

Hope these tips help the next time you take your little one to get their mop chopped.

We have exciting news! Do or Dye Tx has a new home! We moved in October to this beautiful space on Peden but "we quickly out grew it." We had a beast of a neighbor that complained about street parking in the city and Yeah that's all I will say about that! What a peach:)
This sour situation actually turned into a huge blessing! The next 3 months we will be building out the new Do or Dye Tx... Super excited about Joy Yoga being next door! Our new space has cement floors, exposed ceilings, a huge wall of floor to ceiling windows, and tons of room to grow. AHHHH I can't wait to get in there and tear some walls down!

Sometimes it's just better to sew hair in place, especially if your hair is as thick as Kelly's. I hear that BRAIDS ARE OUT for 2012 but I don't agree. Why not braid and twist?

You can wrap and sew as many colors as you want. I chose this color to match Kelly's highlights. In the Spring/ Summer I like to use more vibrant colors like in this POST.

So I have a friend and every time we hang out she gets some kind of crazy text message. This was from her roommate yesterday. How does one even respond to this? Ha!

Today we are having tornado warnings, flood warnings, and it just now started coming down hard. These photos do not even show what it looks like at this moment. I am excited to pull up the blinds, leave the doors open and enjoy this day with Kelly and Bootsie...Until we have to go to work.

THE CREAM EVENT- AUSTIN TX

So earlier this week my friend Andie asked us if we wanted to go to The Cream Event in Austin with her, Lauren and Amanda.

I totally thought it was to see these guys.... So I googled it and saw what it actually was. But hey! any opportunity for a roadtrip with some rad people and I am down.

These were Delicious!

Lauren and Amanda didn't win the dance competition officially (they did in my eyes) but they came in 2nd!!! I was super proud of them for entering last minute. I am still kicking myself for not entering...but Andie and I shook our booties on the dance floor after the competition to make up for it.

The FLASHDANCE killed it again! Thanks for being a bad ass!

We felt like we were in the Secret Garden with the amazingly wonderful Arbor, Bouquets, and Crowns by byrd collective.

Special Thanks to Paige Newton for letting us crazy girls crash at her FUN HOUSE! and to all her roommates who would walk in and just find us (strangers) scarfing down what-a-burger in their living room.

SPRING CLEANING: MY CLOSET

My friend Nora offered to come over on her day off to help me organize my closet. I didn't even ask her. She was just hanging out at my house one day and looked around and was really bothered by my closet situation. The situation being I had my stuff in three different closets + one rolling rack. I am embarrassed that I let my closet get like this.

*Space saving method.

Ummm please don't judge me...

*Stuff your boots with old magazine's to keep their shape.

Do NOT keep extra hangers (waste of space).

I haven't finger spaced since my retail days...I will never miss that part.

I am really proud of myself for filling up an extra large trash bag full of clothes and shoes.
Now we need to figure out what to do with this extra room.

Rules when going through your Closet:
- If you haven't worn it in 6 months you probably won't. Toss it
- Don't keep clothes you plan on wearing "someday" when your hair grows back out, if it comes back in style, or clothes that you plan on fitting into again.
- Only keep clothes that flatter/fit your current size.
- Only keep what you love.
- Do not put empty hangers back in closet, donate them.
-If you think "maybe this will come back in style" it probably will but you probably want the new version.

What I learned after organizing
I have way too many plaid shirts.

Thank God Jacob made us the most delicious sandwiches and got us wine to keep us happy during all this hard work. And SUPER THANKS to Nora who gave up her day off to help a Cray Cray in need.

BEHIND THE SCENES: Josephine Heidepriem Beach Shoot

While most people we know were watching football on Sunday, we decided to escape to the beach for a photoshoot to keep our creative brains at peace. By 11 am hair was being done by Brandi, Makeup by Ginny, and styling was a joint effort. My darlin, Korey, joined us to take behind the scenes photos (snap seagulls) and fight off giant jellyfish. Josephine brought her cameras and eye for framing and we all went to work in Galveston, TX.

Poor Ginny was beyond cold, but we're thankful she's such a trooper!

Having Korey around for the shoot was a lot of fun and made my day. I laughed 10 times harder at all the girl talk because I can't imagine what he thought of it all. Thanks for spending the day with us!

Cold, warm, sunny, cloudy, put me at the beach! I know Brandi feels the same. I dont think there has ever been a time the beach had disappointed us. I love that we can shoot at the same location year round and it never provides the same backdrop.

We are all so excited to see Josephine's photos and share them with you, but hopefull these shots will hold you over until then. Thanks to our bud Micah Bickham for playing around with these images and making them look way rad. I can't wait to have another 'day off' with this batch of creative minds and my darlin at my side. cheesy, i know...

The other night Kelly came over after work with her hair looking all cute ( Day 3 hair) so I made her take it out and braid it over again so I could take some photo's. IT'S THE WEEKEND!!!

Most people get to relax when the weekend comes but the weekend is actually busier for us. Kelly works at Roots the Salon and Anthropologie all weekend. I am working today, then headed to Nate's birthday party, then I got to head back on my side of town for a grill sesh to introduce the Bacquets and the McCoys (Bleubird fam)! Tomorrow we get to see Ryder bear, even though he is not ready for his haircut I hope he is excited for swirll. After that, the girls (Ginny, Josephine, Kelly, and I) are going to Galveston for a little photo project.

Last night was my rest night. I missed Finnegan because I wasn't feeling very good. I just ordered a pizza and stayed in. It was a prison break night for me. I am now on season 2 episode 16 and I blame my friend Jon and his tweet about this show. We are officially hooked. On Monday we watched 10 episodes and I have not been to bed before 2 am since watching. Oh those beautiful brothers and the action!

BONUS FUN FACT: The very first time Korey ever said anything to me was because I was talking about Star Wars. We completely fell in love with each other during our 'Star Wars Weekend' which included all 6 movies, a roller coaster feeling in the pit of my belly, borrowed couches (thanks Brandi, Jacob, James and Aubrey!) lots of screwdrivers, giggles (on my part), no sleep and finishing with the Star Wars exhibit at the Houston Health Museum. I believe it was date #3.

I am using our friends famous quote because that is all that comes to my mind with the wave clips. You can get so many different looks by using these babies.

We use the thread to sew updo's....instead of using bobby pins.

I would say this is the only time when anyone should be allowed to wear these colorful semi scrunchies.... Or if you have a flashback to the 80-90's party.

If I was going to buy any I would try to find white ones to match with the rest of my hair tools.....But, that's just me. These get the job done!

The net is used to avoid fly aways.

Easy Rider and Hair Resort Spray was used in Kelly's hair to achieve a more natural, slightly messy look.

They discussed this on QI (British panel quiz show). I believe, it wasn't that they were to drop bombs. They attached (inserted?) explosives on the bats, who, they hoped, would then fly up under the wings the enemy's planes to perch because the wings of the plans resembled eaves of houses, where bats like to live. And then, obviously, the explosives would be detonated. They also tried to train seagulls to poo on enemy's submarine parascopes to block their view, and trained dogs (with bombs attached) to run under enemy tanks because they were trained to think food was under there. That one backfired, though, because they would just run under their own tanks, because those are the tanks they used to train the dogs. :)

A MUCHO BUENO NYE (pt 2)

We decided to start New Years Eve off right by filling our bellies with delicious food and declaring our NY Resolutions in ink. To see what was on the menu, click here. As previously stated, we usually go to Austin for karaoke, but this year we decided to go with the 'staycation' mind set and started the night at Brandi's in good ol' Houston, TX.

One day, we will have a 'normal' photo, but for now, this will have to do.

Cocktails were made, bellies were stuffed, music was loud and new friends were made and all before 10 pm

Even Mama G joined us for the majority of the night!

Around 9:30 Korey and I left for the airport to pick up my BF Amanda, and everyone walked down to Jackson's Watering hole for karaoke and a midnight toast.

Oh yeah, did I mention that I had a fro for most of the night? Too bad it didn't show up in most of the photos.

Clay and Cabernet

A few weeks before Christmas we went to a Clay and Cabernet night in the heights. It felt like we were in art class and we were a bunch of giddy kids in elementary again...except alcohol was involved. Its $35 dollars a person, BYOB, and we reserved a night for our group of friends. Jacob was the only guy but whats new?! He loved it. You have 3 hours to make your treasures, leave them there and pick them up 2 weeks later. Awesome Right!? We already made plans to go again with another group that didn't get to go this time.

I made lots and lots of coasters, mini ring dishes, and planter labels. Jacob made 2 coffee mugs for the folks and he worked super hard. We need to plan ahead and figure out what we will make next time.

You can't see very well but the coasters are wood grain.

Nolene, Joe and Charlie Brown Christmas

One of my favorite things to do is look at old pictures and try to imagine what it was like back then.

Grandpa. Aunt Vicki. Aunt Cindy.

I love seeing presents under the tree. I spy Lincoln Logs!

Look at all that Tinsel! This photo makes me super happy.

This was just the beginning for them. I am so proud of my Grandparents. They were both such hard workers and they are proof that hard work pays off. Can you imagine having 8 kids? It seems like it would be super fun but can you imagine 8 kids running around? AHHHHH!!! Ha! I don't know how they did it, but they did and they have always made Christmas so magical and memorable. Thank You Grandma and Grandpa for starting some amazing Christmas Traditions!

-The music we listen to is the same my Dad and his siblings grew up listening to when he was a kid. It went from Records to Tapes to Cd's to I-pod back to Records and we can't forget Grandma playing away on the piano. Nothing more amazing than Grandma playing music from Charlie Brown Christmas on the piano.

I saw this on Free People and was totally inspired to thread up a set of antlers I have in the house..... I really want some Horns though! (currently working on)

This was another set of antlers that needed some Christmas cheer so I decorated with my DIY ornaments. I got this idea from my talented/creative/beautiful friend Kassi, I really wish she would start blogging again! (HINT HINT)

INSPIRATION: CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

This is our kind of holiday decor, walking into Free People is always inspiring but this time we were totally in magic inspo land and ready to get home to finish our own houses.

I don't know how many times I have been to Michaels Craft store this month, but I can't seem to buy enough Gold glitter! I love it! My house is full of shiny, sparkle, gold glitter! And sad story, all the stores are out of gold garland.

Do you stick to a color scheme when decorating your tree? or do you throw every color on?
Jacob and I have a different scheme every year. This year its blue, silver, gold, and white.
But we always stick with white lights.

Here is a little peek at what we have been working on from instagram (LisenbeSquared). Instead of spraying the outside of the ornaments with glitter spray we filled them with regular glitter, and gold tinsel pieces. They look so pretty!

MALL RATS: Adventures In The Fitting Room

Tuesday morning Brandi and I were going a little cray cray with work and responsibilities, so we decided to take a trip to the Houston Galleria. Brandi was determined to snag some deals... Not sure she was successful, but we had a lot of fun.

First stop, Free People!

We want, so badly, for bellbottoms to work on us, but we are short and 'hippy' and not so sure we can pull them off. Can ladies with hips wear bellbottoms without looking squatty?

We love when Nora is working! She had us in tears the entire time.

GOTCHA!

Next, we took a stroll over to Nordstrom on a hunt for Jeffery Campbell Everest Hiking Boots that we spotted on Closet Visit.

Of course they were nowhere to be found, but we tried some fun ones are so we would know our sizes.

To our surprise, they were actually comfortable and easy to walk in. Now, we MUST have them!

Last stop, cheap shopping in Pac Sun. No laughs, we found a few awesome treasures... and I'm not talking about these rad beanies either.

ON TOUR: Bubblegum Alley (Day 3)

Finally, continuing on with my West Coast Tour stories... Day 3 of traveling with my lady love, Amanda Shires, landed us in a little place called San Luis Obispo. Load in was mega early, so I had some time to wander around. I didn't have to take many steps to find this treasure, Bubble Gum Alley. It actually dates back quite a few decades, however it's exact beginnings are a little fuzzy.

MICHIGAN- KALAMAZOO BREWING COMPANY

During our stay in Michigan, Luke and Diahnn made sure we had a good time. I wish we could go back and stay in the cabins, but I'm sure that if we were there right now we would freeze! While we were visiting in October it was perfect! The trees were changing colors, it was sunny during the day, chilly at night, perfect! They filled our days with activities, meals, and we even learned a couple of new games. I am so thankful for them and the time we all got to spend together.

Justin must be admiring the stained glass. We all did.

Yesterday, Kelly and I spent the day working on Bueno, making plans, and she made a stamp of our logo and made pretty new bags for our Bueno goods. I love productive days! Jacob even sat in and brainstormed ideas with us.

Ok so, these were some of the fun things we have been working on....The not so fun thing we have been working on is finding a new space for salon. Yup, I said it a new NEW space. The city is cracking down and really getting on to businesses for PARKING. Someone (and we know who) complained, the city came and we didn't know we needed 4 spaces per stylist. We have 5 people, which means 20 spaces. Not gonna happen! We are staying positive and keeping our heads up about this. It's a new challenge and a new opportunity to create another amazing salon with rad people. Wish us luck!

I love traveling with my friends! It makes the trip way more fun and less awkward than traveling solo...well that's just my opinion anyway. When I have traveled alone I always people watch and end up playing lock eyes with a bunch of weirdos. AWKWARD. It's because you wanna check to see if they are still staring at you because you feel that stare burning you down, and you look up and DOH! It's a very horrible experience. Eww. I hate it.

Thank God I had my friends with me on our journey back home from Michigan.

WHAT I TAKE WITH ME WHEN I FLY:
Hand Sanitizer- to get all those yucky germs away.
Wet Wipes- refresh your face, hands.....stay fresh
Snack- i hate when my tummy growls, embarrassing and also i get really grumpy when hungry.
H20- duh so i don't bother the flight attendants every time i am thirsty.
Emergen-c- because when you fly you are exposed to a million peoples germs. watch out!
i pod- catch up on music and zone out.
Macbook- never check that! always carry on!
Magazines- in case you sit by a weirdo just burry yourself in this or fake like you are asleep.
Chapstick- i hate that feeling when your lips are so chapped and you don't have any lippy on you.
Gum- good breath when you talk to your neighbor and also to pop your ears.
Comfy Sweater- sometimes it's really cold, or sometimes you need to bundle it up and rest your head on it.
Camera- because i love taking shots of my friends snoozing....ZZZzzzZZZzz
Mini Sketch Book and Sharpies- because you never know when you want to doodle or jot down goals.

Bleubird Vintage Wedding Week: With Our Forces Combined

So this week Kelly, Korey, and I headed to the Ranch to help Aubrey and James with all the wedding projects. Lots to be done to make this perfect for the lovebirds! Jacob couldn't come because his band had a big show the same weekend. Huge BUMMER.

Day 1: we started dipping and painting the tips of black feathers.

And yes I got gold paint all over me. surprise surprise!

Kelly and Milla even had a little paint war!

Kelly The Gold Nosed Mexican! Milla won!

After 5 hours I needed a little break because I was starting to go crazy!

Kelly's little break included smooching her man. Sicko's!

Then we went back to work....this process seemed never ending but this was only the beginning of this project. You shall see...

Guess how many feathers we dipped?

Later on in the night more friends started showing up and this was really good because it meant more hands to help and new stories to be shared yay! Even the boys helped! Ok they might have been bribed with beer!

This was Project Smilebooth Backdrop.

I liked that we worked on projects the whole time because I don't do well with just sitting around.

It was really fun getting to know everyone during the whole process.

Korey was probably jealous of my Ninja knot tying skills.

And every creative group needs a little humpty dumpty action!

Just wait til you see the end results on these projects.... many hours, laughs, drinks, and stories.....

Kelly and I just got back in town from an amazing week/weekend at the Ranch for James and Aubrey's wedding and we are POOPED. We will share some fun photo's later this week from all the fun festivities! Right now all I wanna do is veg out in front of the ol' boob tube with my bloke.

BEFORE AND AFTER: BLONDE TO COPPER

Just tried this dry shampoo by Kenra and I think I'm in love! It smells like watermelon, and it doesn't spray out white like other dry shampoo.

Lynzy got the itch to change her hair color, and I suggested a copper color because it's oh so pretty and also it's all the rage right now. With her fair skin tone I knew she could pull it off.

I decided to mix two colors to get just the right color I was going for. Doesn't this look amazing?

After drying and using the curl stick I let the curls cool off before touching. Then I sprinkled some Powder puff. It's a volumizing powder that adds texture and smells wonderful!

Now you can break up the curls and blend in the powder. I don't like perfect curls so I like to rough them up.

TIP: If you want your color to last longer use a SULFATE FREE shampoo and conditioner, also try not to wash everyday.

COVERING OUR SKIVVIES: Wedding Guests

As previously mentioned, Brandi and I got to spend some sister sister time together in the 'Hill Country' this past weekend. When she asked me to go to a wedding with her, I said yes and packed a bag without asking for details, so I was completely shocked upon arrival. As soon as my feet touched the ground I was running around everywhere, snapping photos and saying things along te lines of 'Omg, Brandi, look how beautiful. Oh my lordy, check this out!' I mean, don't even get me started on the cabin. We kept the doors open at the cabin and my eyes were fixed on the slab of color that the trees and river provided. Brandi was in professional Hair Stylist mode and working most of the time and I was really good at being the girl no one knew who ate the food... wish I was kidding. Haha.

When it came down to outfits, we were super prepared. We each brought multple options. After puting on our first options for eachother, we tossed 'plan b' out the window. Good thing we have another wedding this upcoming weekend! Anyway, the wedding was beautiful and short and the reception was beautiful and fun. We took photobooth pics, ate, laughed, stood by the treat table way too long and goofed off. Eventually, we got pretty goofy and started doing, well, you'll see. I'm so glad I had the weekend off to go on this miniventure with my seester.

So she started the night off in her new Platforms but it was really hard to walk on the cobblestones in these.

Sister Weekend: Hideout on the Horseshoe

We made it! With no sleep and 3 hours of driving, Kelly and I arrived at Hideout On The Horseshoe in New Braunfels at 9:30 am yesterday morning. We tried to eat smart on the way and stick to Paleo but the almonds and banana did not satisfy us so we caved and ate a taco! But good thing we did because I had to do wedding hair from 11-2:30 and I might not have lasted if it weren't for that taco.

Anyway this place is gorgeous and our cabin was better than perfect! Since Jacob was out of town with his band (The 71's) I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for Kelly and I to have SISTER SISTER (yes I broke out into song just then) Time. And we had a blast! We were seriously cra cra by 9 pm though. That's what lack of sleep will do to you. You know the feeling... where everything is so hilarious, but just to you? Yeah that was us, walking around, posing like fools, standing by the cake table a little too long, sitting on hay, dancing our way back to our cabin (completely sober), watching really bad Lifetime Movies.

I wish the trip would have been a little longer but we had to get back today so Kel could get to work and so I could get fitted for Miss James (Bleubird Vintage) Wedding next weekend! This week is going to be so crazy it's going to fly by!

Does anyone else feel like they are going to a wedding, shower, or party every weekend? When does life slow down?

MINI ROAD TRIP : SISTER TIME

It's 6:03am and Kelly isn't at my house yet. Surprise Surprise. I called her at 5:26 and I believe I woke her up. I knew it! Normally I would blow up but that lil beaner is not a morning person, never has been. Oh well I am just thankful that she is coming with me on this 4 hour road trip to New Braunfels, Texas for a wedding. As soon as we get there I start on hair. SHOW ME THE COFFEE!

CHRISTMAS: 5 Questions

I don't think Amy is quite ready for Christmas Tunes yet.

It's that time again, when our mom starts blasting Christmas music, and we start getting in the Christmas spirit! These photo's were a gift to our parents from last year.We had way too much fun shooting and goofing around with Clint Shuttlesworth. See the full set here.

1. Are you a lover or hater of Christmas Music? If yes, what are your favorite Christmas Albums?

-We love it! Bruce Springsteen, Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Beach Boys, Nat King Cole, Sinatra and Bowie, Charlie Brown Christmas, These are just some of the ones we grew up on. We listened to the same mix tape for years until We could put it all on our ipods.

2. What is your favorite memory about Christmas?

-Waking up to my dad shouting Ho Ho Ho, and us kids running downstairs to Hot Cocoa and warm blankets, Christmas music playing, lights twinkling, and the display of everything under the tree so perfectly. My parents were both super creative with presentation and always reminded us of the real meaning of Christmas.

3. Do you have Christmas Traditions? Do Tell!

-We get to open one present on Christmas Eve. Sometimes we go to midnight mass with our Grandma (she is Catholic), but that's more her tradition.

4. When do you get your tree and decorate?

-Usually the day after Thanksgiving:) I just love a lit up Christmas tree with all the other lights turned off in the house!

5. When do you take your decorations down?

-I try to do it before New Years Eve because I know I am not going to want to do it after an SFP New Years trip!

PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: EXTRA VOLUME SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

I am in love with the EXTRA VOLUME shampoo and conditioner from Moroccan Oil. The Moisture shampoo and conditioner are amazing too but they can be a little heavy on hair if you don't have thick, coarse, or damaged hair.

- Smells amazing
- Color safe
- Sulfate, phosphate, and Paraben free
- Adds volume to fine and limp hair
- $23

You don't have to use a lot of shampoo, pour small amounts on finger tips and scrub your scalp into a nice lather. Then rinse. Do not worry about wasting all your shampoo on middle to ends of your hair.
Next, squeeze excess water out of your hair and use a small amount of extra volume conditioner through the middle to the ends. Try to avoid putting conditioner on scalp. Why? Because it tends to look greasy.

Brandi and I knew this place was rad way before even stepping foot inside. We eyed it down for a few months and last week we finally set time aside to explore Reserve Supply Co. Walking in was sort of like walking into the closet of your mega rad Uncle. Other than the obvious on display, this shop has vintage bikes on the floor, skate decks and various vintage items, all with a story behind them. The environment was a perfect mixture of classy rawness and I knew I wasn't going to be able to leave until I had seen every inch of the store. Luckily, Jason Bruen, the owner was there and we got to ask plenty of questions. The shop focuses on Men's apparel, accessories, vintage bikes, skateboards and overall radness. Jason and his wife previously owned a skate park/shop in Louisiana and that laid back, effortless style definitely bled through to their new shop Reserve Supply Company. Though they haven't been Houstonians for very long, they are already plugged in with the Houston community, participating in Benefits and hosting events like Bike Night and Ping Pong Tournaments. I mean, they have a ping-pong table in the store... If you live in Houston, stop by and take a look around, and if you are into having fun (ie ping pong, vintage bikes, skateboards, style), ask when their next event is or check their blog to get involved.
